Added a new family member? Here’s what’s first.
When bringing home a new pet, regardless if he or she is a new animal or an adopted animal, one of the first stops should be Ramsey Animal Hospital for a New Pet Exam and vaccination schedule recommendation.
Make sure you bring with you any paperwork the breeder, humane society, rescue, previous owner or pet store gave you.
We will make a plan to ensure the best health for your new family member.
Puppies & Dogs
When you bring a new canine home you want to make sure he or she has all the shots he or she will need. If not, Ramsey Animal Hospital can help you set up a schedule to complete the vaccination schedule.
Puppies
7 Weeks: DHPP #1 Bordetella/Kennel Cough (optional)
10 Weeks: DHPP #2, Lyme #1 (optional)
13 Weeks: DHPP #3, Lyme #2 (optional)
16 Weeks: DHPP #4, Rabies 1 Year
This is a guideline, if your new puppy did not start the series on this schedule, that is never a problem. Ramsey Animal Hospital will work with your puppy to create his or her personalized schedule.
Dogs
Upon Adoption:
DHPP #1, Rabies 1 year, Lyme #1 (optional)
3-4 weeks later:
DHPP #2, Lyme #2 (optional), Bordetella/Kennel Cough (optional)
Other vaccinations may be recommended for your pet depending on the environments the new pet will be exposed to. Your friendly staff at Ramsey Animal Hospital will be happy to inform you of these other vaccinations.
Kitten’s & Cats
When you bring a new feline home you want to make sure he or she has all the shots he or she will need. If not, Ramsey Animal Hospital can help you set up a schedule to complete the vaccination schedule.
Kittens
7 Weeks: PRC-C #1,
10 Weeks: PRC-C #2, Feline Leukemia Test (optional)
FeLv #1 (optional)
13 Weeks: PRC-C #3, Rabies 1 Year, FeLv #2 (optional)
